Saveur Nominated for ASME's Digital Ellies Awards

The American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) announced the finalists for its annual National Magazine Awards for Digital Media - more commonly known as the digital Ellies. Among the nominees was Bonnier Corporation title Saveur, named in the category website, which honors the best magazine website.

The winners will be announced March 20 at luncheon in New York.

TV Journalists Win 2011 Bonnier Award in Estonia

For the first time, Estonia's prestigious journalism award goes to TV.

Yesterday, journalists Mihkel Kärmas and Rasmus Kagge from ETV, the Estonian national public TV channel, were awarded the 2011 Bonnier Award, the oldest and most prestigious journalism prize given out in Estonia.

The two won for their coverage of a scandal involving politicians helping wealthy Russians get residence permits.

What do you do when the concept you based your magazine on evolves in the public imagination? You change the magazine. That is if your Finland's Evita, Bonnier Publications Oy's title focused on well-being for women. "We noticed that the concept of well-being has changed in the two and a half years that Evita has existed," says Editor-in-Chief Tytti Kontula.

Dagens Nyheter to Distribute Free Stockholm Section

In mid-March, Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter will begin distributing free of charge a version of its popular local section DN STHLM to 200,000 households that currently do not subscriber to the paper. The new publication will come out on Thursdays in time for people to read it at the breakfast table.  

The product will consist of parts of the Stockholm section that subscribers get in the full paper on Thursdays, as well as feature material previously published in DN.

TV4 Group to Launch New Channel

TV4 Sport Xtra is the newest channel from the TV4 Group.

On May 4, the new TV4 Sport Xtra will premier in conjunction with the Ice Hockey World Championships and will be offered to all TV distributors.

Last week, Slovenian history buffs got a treat when ČZP VEČER d.d., publisher of Science Illustrated, launched World History. With an initial circulation of 6,500, the magazine will be published monthly.

Soccer superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic knows all about pushing boundaries. And now following on the heels of his best-selling autobiography, I am Zlatan, comes a boundary-pushing iPad app based on the book.

The idea to make an app came from the football star's publisher Albert Bonnier and was developed by Albert Bonniers Förlag and Bonnier R&D with Ibrahimovic closely involved throughout.
